Privacy at Vebix Automation
In short: we keep what you send us so we can quote for it, and we don’t sell it. The only thing we count is page views, on our own server, with no cookies and nothing that identifies you. One script on every page comes from Google, to draw the button that adds this site to your preferred sources in Google Search.
What we collect, and when
Nothing, until you send us something. The catalogue, the specifications, the guides and the comparison tables all work without an account or a form.
When you request a quote, we receive what you typed: your name, email address, and any of phone, organisation, application and delivery location that you filled in, along with the parts and quantities in your cart. Product names come from our own catalogue, so a part is always recorded under its real name.
If you open an account, we store the name and email you register and a hashed form of your password, never the password itself. An account only saves you retyping your name and email on the quote form. Nothing in the catalogue needs one.
What we do with it
We answer your request. We use your details to send the quotation, ask about anything missing and follow up on that order. We don’t sell them, use them for anyone else’s marketing or add you to a mailing list.
Where it is kept
Quote requests are saved to a file on this site’s own server and emailed to our sales mailbox at sales@vebixautomation.com. They are not sent to any outside form service or CRM. Hostinger hosts both the server and the mailbox for us, and only the people who prepare quotes can open them.
Your cart stays in your browser
The parts you add are stored by your own browser, on your own device, and go nowhere until you send a quote request. Clearing your browser storage removes them. To price the cart, the site sends only the part numbers and quantities to our server, which works out the total and keeps nothing.
Tracking
We use no third-party analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies. The only things this site keeps in your browser are the cart described above and, if you sign in, the token that keeps you signed in.
One outside script loads on every page: Google’s preferred-sources library, from news.google.com. It draws the “Add as a preferred source” button at the foot of the page, which lets you choose this site as a preferred source in Google Search. Loading it sends Google your IP address and the address of the page you are on, as any request to Google does, and Google may use its own cookies, for example to save your choice to your Google account. What Google does with that is covered by Google’s privacy policy. We receive nothing from it about you.
We do count page views, on our own server. When a page loads, we record which page it was and the time, and nothing about you or what you typed. That tells us which parts people are reading about, which helps us decide what to bring in.
To count visitors as well as page views, we need a value that stays the same for every page you view that day and differs from anyone else’s. We use a one-way hash of your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string and a random value that changes every day. We don’t store your IP address or your user-agent string. They are used to make the hash and then thrown away. Each day’s random value is deleted along with that day’s records, after which nobody, us included, can link a hash back to an address. Tomorrow you get a different value, so two days can’t be joined into a history of you. Nothing is saved on your device, so there is no cookie and nothing to consent to. The counts are deleted after six weeks.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests as our record of what was asked for and what we quoted. Ask us to delete yours and we will, at any time, without asking why.
