A sensor ranged for 300 m resolves shallow depth less finely than one ranged for 10 m. Choose the smallest range that covers your deepest dive plus a margin, not the largest available.
Several I2C sensors run from one supply but talk at another logic level. Check both against your autopilot or microcontroller, and use a level converter where they differ.
A depth sensor may report temperature from its own element for compensation, but that is not a water temperature sensor's accuracy or response time. Choose each for its own job.
Subtract the atmospheric pressure at the surface and divide by the water's density times gravity: about 1 bar per 10 m in fresh water, a little less depth per bar in sea water. Our pressure and depth guide gives the working.
